Brother of Frasier Crane, from the smash hit US comedy. Whilst Frasier is the star of the show, his brother Niles also helps make the show what it is.
He is officially Dr Niles Crane, and was played by David Hyde Pierce. Apparently he was actually hired for the role because he looked a little like a younger version of Kelsey Grammer who of course played Frasier, though the resemblance does not seem particularly clear.
He is a pyschiatrist like his brother in this smash hit comedy TV series and a lot of comedy arises from the tensions between the brothers, their various problems, their rivalry and competing analyses of each other and what each other is doing.
