We all know what a blockbuster is - it something that is a real hit at the box office or a great song, one that does really well and everyone buys.
And of course it is the iconic quiz show featuring Bob Holness of 'can I have a 'P' please Bob?' fame!
The origin of this phrase is a bomb that exploded with great effect - in other words, the effect it had on the world around it was rather great, and hence it got moved to mean a film or other piece of art that had a rather large effect on the world around it, and became a blockbuster.
