When something surprising happens and wakes you up from your usual slumbers of encountering and navigating the world you live in, you might just do a double take. Was that really someone famous you saw walking by? Was that your ex who needed a break from relationships kissing someone else?
Double Take comes from the movies and when directors had to have another look or even re-cast and re-do the shot because there was something wrong with it.
