I like bars with a mixed cast of characters, including writers and blue-collar types, and places that have a good vibe of semianonymity. There's a beach bar in Santa Monica called Chez Jay that I'm crazy about. Warren Beatty used to go there back in the seventies, and it's got a nice mix of people and a great jukebox
