John Lennon, Yoko Ono and the Plastic Ono Band created this song. You can expect to hear it played several times in November and December.
(3) Do They Know It's Christmas
It's Christmas time, and there's no need to be afraid... that's how this well known Christmas tune starts. Written by Bob Geldof and Midge Ure in 1984 it was specifically to raise money for children in Ethiopia as part of Band Aid.
(4) A Spaceman Came Travelling
This popular Christmas song is by Chris de Burgh on his album Spanish Train and Other Stories in 1975. It has been associated with Christmas ever since and you can be sure that you'll hear it on the radio more than once in the lead-in to the Christmas season.

This cheerful tune guaranteed to get people in festive cheer is one by the Beach Boys.
(6) Santa Claus is Coming to Town
Another happy and cheerful Christmas song that tells you that Christmas comes this time each year is by J. Fred Coots and Haven Gillespie.
(7) Stop the Cavalry
This instantly identifiable Christmas song is by Jona Lewie, and although it never reached higher than 3 in the UK chart it has been firmly established as a Christmas song that appears on any self-respecting compilation of seasonal tunes.
(8) White Christmas
This is one of the most famous Christmas songs of all, written by Irving Berlin and associated most with the Bing Crosby version. Infact apparently this is the best-selling song of all time which is some accolade!
(9) Walking in the Air
The most famous Howard Blake song from the Snowman, this is firmly associated with Christmas and is a lovely song with a great melody.
(10) Last Christmas
This is many people's favourite Christmas song, and is another that you will definitely hear several times in the run up to Christmas. It is a Wham! song and was first released in 1984; there have been many covers of this song over the years but as ever the original version probably remains the best of all. A classic Christmas tune!
